The clear sense of direction that Mario and Gill have followed since 1985 is continuing. The range of services and facilities offered are ever increasing to ensure we enrich lives, have highly skilled and motivated staff and are sector leaders.
New Care Centre of Excellence in Caernarfon
We are building another world class centre in Gwynedd to care for people with mental health, dementia and nursing needs. This will be a purpose-built centre on the site of a former community hospital, Ysbyty Bryn Seiont, in Pant Road, on the outskirts of the town. The centre will provide 24/7 services including respite and daycare services. There will also be a domiciliary care service to support people in their own homes and a teaching care centre to ensure staff have the highest possible standard of training and personal development. There will also be specialised 'extra care' accommodation that provides independence and choice to those with varying care needs and enables them to remain in their own home, enabling the spouse or partner to remain as the main carer.
The chapel at the Hillbury site is currently being developed to create a space which will be used for a range of activities by Pendine Park and the Community. There will still be an area for worship and this development is happening in partnership with the Bishop. It can be a meeting place, especially for those who are perhaps lonely in the community and a support for family carers.
There will be regular events such as tea dances, concerts, enrichment therapies and free training for family carers. We are consulting to identify further ways the wider community can be involved including associations such as Alzheimer’s Association.
There will be a café that will be open part time to start with and we also plan to be able to offer lunches. In the future we could deliver ‘day care at night’ there and ‘link up’ people in the community with activities at the centre via technology. Ultimately this project is about increasing links and relationships with and supporting the wider community.
We are currently developing the extensive gardens at Pendine Park to include allotments, a farm, art therapy areas, a music garden as well as further walkways and nature trails so everyone can enjoy the gardens in their own way.
