Enriching Lives with Art

The opportunity for the residents to express themselves artistically is a joy to behold. Their sense of achievement combines with a growth in confidence. To have this facility here at Pendine Park is so important.

It is believed that we were the first nursing home in the UK to employ an artist in residence when we appointed Sarah Edwards in 1995. Her classes and one-to-one sessions are extremely popular developing the participants artistic talent, realising their individual potential and helping to enrich their lives.

Several residents have even put on their own displays and we had exhibitions attended by the Mayor and other dignitaries. Visits to art galleries and museums, including Tate Liverpool and Lowry Salford, are part of our planned activities.

We were delighted when Sarah received a well deserved accolade at the Wales Care Awards in 2007 for her work in helping residents lead fulfilled lives. And thrilled to win the Arts, Business and Sustainability Award in 2008. The judges described the work being done as 'truly inspirational'
